Hey fans, I wanted to drop by and share some updates since they are rare these days. A majority of my time has been spent completing my doctorate degree (I am working on my thesis at the moment). However, I have also discovered a renewed love for creating video games. I had dabbled with coding some games in the past, especially with the Ren ‘Py language but never quite had the skills to make the code more powerful. Times have changed and I have been able to make some major advances in my skills.
I have started writing a video game called “The Soundtrack of My Life” (SOML) that focuses on the life of a struggling musician trying to make ends meet while he works on his skills, lands gigs, develops friendships and even looks for love. Since the game is very visual, there are many instances where a scene can be made much more powerful by adding the right music.
At this time, I have created three tracks that serve as “incidental” music meaning they appear during specific times. The tracks are short, usually no more than 2 minutes long, and will loop indefinitely during the scene (unless the player opts to turn them off). I have made these publicly available on my SoundCloud so check them out. As new tracks are created, I will add them to this set on SoundCloud.
Track List:
- Soundtrack of My Life – Intro: This track plays when you start the game. It is intended to illustrate the ups and downs of a musician’s life.
- Coffee Shop Backing Track: Many social events with the player’s friends will start out casually in a coffee shop. I created this short track to loop during those scenes and to create the vibe of a relaxed coffee shop atmosphere.
- Define the Relationship Track: During one point in the game, your character will be dating one of the characters and the relationship will grow high enough that the romantic partner wants to make it official. This is a sweet and romantic section of the game so I wrote a track that loops and builds that joy and suspense while you go through the DTR (Define the Relationship) moment.
Let me know what you think of this music!
