I have terrific news! The Currents EP is finally complete! It’s only been 6 months of work but it feels like years. I hope that you all will enjoy listening to it as much as I have enjoyed making this album. I would have to say that the title track, “Currents”, is one of the most crowdsourced tracks I have ever made. I sought the feedback from many friends with a wide variety of tastes and even had help from my beloved wife while it was being made. It may be my second EP but I am certain it is the first one that will get the attention of the general public.
At this time, the tracks have been submitted to my distributor and will be released to the various musical outlets starting as early as June 30th. It may take a few more weeks depending on the vendor (iTunes, for instance, takes a few weeks). Whatever the case may be, I will make sure that you guys get word as soon as that happens. I appreciate everyone’s support in this time.
As I was finishing this album and pondering over the process, I realized how deeply personal this album is to me. This is the first album I have created since I lost my father in 2013. This is the first album I have created since my family grew to three and soon five children. I could go on and on about this. But as I pondered it, I came up with a quote that summarizes what this album means to me. “Life is full of currents, what is important is where you let them take you.”
Take Care and God Bless!
Thanks to an amazing hint from my original mentor, David Campos, I was able to figure out how to give my songs more volume kick without killing the dBs. It’s amazing what a few minor changes to the studio config can do to make songs really stand out! I am in the process of remastering my Currents EP to give them the extra kick. I will post the updated songs to SoundCloud later on. DJ6i out!
After some downtime and DJ6i finishing his Master’s classes, he finally got around to finishing the 4th track from the Currents EP. The fourth track is called “Frostfall” and is a song mixing dubstep elements with drum ‘n’ bass and tied together with DJ6i’s signature sound. The story behind this song is actually twofold. When DJ6i started creating this song, Oklahoma (and the entire Midwest for that matter) was facing a record low temperature for the winter and record amounts of ice and snow. This freezing weather inspired the creation of a new song and inspired the creation of a new story character who generated ice from within his body. These two elements together brought about the creation of Frostfall. Enjoy this track and let the DJ know what you think!
The DJ has been very busy in the studio the past few months and you guys get to reap the rewards. I have created a new track for you all to enjoy! My newest track is an experiment in the world of drum and bass and is my first ever use of a vocals for drops. I promised myself when I first began writing music as an electronic artist that I would not create cliche music with corny Sci-fi movie quotes and I am not starting today. There is only one vocal sound clip and it is something much less obscure.
Submitted for my fans to review, please check out Subdementia, the 3rd track on my upcoming EP, Currents.
The DJ is in the house and cooking up some great stuff! I decided to stay home instead of do anything fancy out tonight. Also, my beloved took the kids to see their aunt so I am home alone. After dropping Polysonic, I couldn’t help but keep my hands in the studio and I am GLAD I did!
By taking another piecemail track I had shuttered for several months, I began to feel a new vibe coming on and I created a flowing 145bpm track named ‘Windrider’ because it really personifies the excitement, calmness and fear of what it might feel like to ride atop the wind like a leaf. I used a great deal of filtering and gating mixed with some other techniques. I think the end result speaks for itself.
I hope you enjoy my second new track off my recently named second EP – Currents. Take a listen to Windrider! DJ 6i Out!
I know it has been over 3 years but AT LAST I got my act together and completed a new track. I teased you with it 5 days ago but I finally have it ready. Check out the latest song from DJ6i – Polysonic!
In this track I took several new elements into use that I had previously been experimenting with including phased quantitization, multi relays and extensive crossfades. I hope you enjoy the new track as much as I enjoyed making it. It is only a basic example of the amazing things my latest studio application is capable of producing.
Enjoy! DJ6i out!
